Information Lifecycle Management (ILM).
ILM is quickly becoming the buzzword of the storage industry. As new regulatory rules are created, and the number of disaster recovery implementations increase, ILAM will play a pivotal role in helping IT professionals adhere to new standards while incurring minimum management headaches.

What's important to remember is that ILM is not a technology; it is an information strategy wrapped around processes and technologies that determines how data flows through an organization. By doing so, companies can manage their data from the moment it is created to the time it is no longer needed.

W&G can help you implement a solution using a combination of these technologies and processes to enable a successful ILM practice. Our ILM solution design service uses a number of technologies and business methodologies, including the following:

  • Assessment
  • Socialization
  • Classification
  • Automation
  • Review

ILM solves key problems such as ineffective storage utilization, the costs of managing storage and the ability to manage storage growth surrounding data replication, disaster recovery/business continuance and backup. An effective ILM implementation can significantly streamline costs and management efficiencies, ensuring that critical data is given top-priority to storage resources and is always available.

Information Availability Management (IAM).
Availability, and the management of that availability, has become one of the most important aspects of service delivery in the highly visible e-business global economy. Consequently, the demand for 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week operation is greater than ever. Availability, or the lack of it, has a dramatic influence on customer satisfaction and can very quickly impact the overall reputation and success of the enterprise. IAM is responsible for ensuring that service-affecting incidents do not occur, or that timely and effective action is taken when they do.

Risks to availability may be caused by technology, processes and procedures, and human error. Risks to availability exist throughout the whole IT infrastructure and within every management process. Although not directly responsible for each of these processes, availability management is responsible for making sure that all areas of risk to availability are taken into account and that the overall IT infrastructure and the maturity of management processes supporting a given IT service are sufficient.

Our availability management solutions include countermeasures that can be employed to help mitigate these risks. W&G AM solutions strive to eliminate risks to the availability of IT services. Our primary focus is to address the risks to availability that can be reasonably expected to occur on a day-to-day basis so you don't have to.
